Lt. Gov. Bolling to address Henrico Business Leaders

Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling will outline the current state of jobs and employment at the Henrico Business Leaders meeting on Monday, April 11 at 7:30 am.

Bolling, Virginia’s Chief Jobs Creation Officer, was invited by Henrico Business Leaders, a group of business, community, and government leaders, to discuss what lies on the horizon as Virginia continues its strong focus on economic development and job creation.

Virginia’s unemployment rate, unadjusted for seasonal factors, averaged 6.6% in the second half of 2010 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Henrico fared similarly at 6.75%. By comparison, the overall U.S. unemployment rate for that same time period averaged 9.3%.

“The Lieutenant Governor’s goals for improving the business climate in Virginia are in line with our own,” said Henrico Business Leaders president, Joe Winston. “We know Henrico is a great place for business. We are resolved to make it even better.”

About Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling

Bill Bolling has represented the people of Virginia in state and local government since 1991. He has a record of proven results, working with Republicans and Democrats to get things done in Richmond.

Bill Bolling was elected to serve as the 40th Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in 2005. In a year that favored Democrats, Bolling received more votes than any other Republican candidate, a testimony to the strength of the campaign he ran.

Prior to his election as Lieutenant Governor, Bill Bolling served for 10 years in the Senate of Virginia, where he was widely recognized for his work on health care and natural resource issues. Prior to his service in the Senate, Bill served as Chairman of the Hanover County Board of Supervisors.

On November 3rd, 2009, Bill Bolling was re‐elected to a second four year term as Lieutenant Governor. Running with Governor Bob McDonnell, the two Republicans ran a positive, issues oriented campaign that offered New Ideas For A Better Virginia. Bolling won an impressive victory, claiming 57% of the popular vote.

During his second term as Lieutenant Governor, Bolling’s focus will be on getting Virginia’s economy moving again and creating jobs. Governor McDonnell has asked Lieutenant Governor Bolling to serve as Virginia’s Chief Jobs Creation Officer and made him a member of the Governor’s cabinet.

As Chief Jobs Creation Officer, Lieutenant Governor Bolling is responsible for coordinating the state’s economic development programs across numerous state agencies, and working with business leaders to identify ways to improve the state’s economy.

Lieutenant Governor Bolling is also responsible for shepherding the Governor’s economic development initiatives through the General Assembly, and assisting economic development officials in recruiting new business and industry to Virginia.

Lieutenant Governor Bolling has been married to his wife, Jean Ann, for 32 years. The Bolling’s have two sons, Matt and Kevin, and they live in Mechanicsville in Hanover County.

Professionally, Lieutenant Governor Bolling is employed as a Vice President with Riggs, Counselman, Michaels and Downes, one of the nation’s largest independent insurance agencies.
