In 2011, Henrico County will celebrate its 400th anniversary as our nation's second permanent English settlement. In 1611, Henricus was named for Prince Henry, the eldest son of King James I and was the second successful English city in the New World; it was later called Henrico County (one of the eight original shires in America) in 1634.

The County has a variety of commemorative events planned, please click http://www.henrico400th.com/ for more information.
